A breath of fresh air...
This show has its flaws, but I find the show to be a refreshing change from Nick's usual fare. Funny moments without the condescension of a laugh track, and poignant moments that don't feel like anvils. The storytelling is a bit heavy-handed at times, but the mystery and slowly encroaching sense of dread and danger keep the show interesting. Many of the characters are cookie-cutter for young adult entertainment (the New Girl, the Brainless Beauty, the Jock), but they all have hints of greater personality. Patricia is a particular joy to watch -- and to cheer on. I'm excited to see where this show is going.
I liked It
To my surprise, I really enjoyed House Of Anubis. I am over 30. I found it to be very entertaining and the storyline kept me glued to the screen, wanting to find out what would happen next. House of Anubis tells the story of a group of kids at a boarding house in England who stumble upon finding clues to unlock the mystery surrounding Anubis. A American teenager is sent to the school, after one of the student is mysteriously removed from the school. Why was she taken? What connection does she have to House secret past? Does the creepy Headmaster have anything to do about it? You just have to watch it and see. I highly recommend it.
My 12 year old gives this 5 stars, I give it 3
He says it is interesting and exciting. He likes the mystery and the characters. He also likes the fact it is based in Egyptian mythology. I say it is a lot smarter than a lot, and maybe even the majority, of kids shows out there but it is still definitely aimed at kids. That makes it a bit painful for an adult to watch from time to time, but overall I can sit and enjoy watching it with the kids. Think Nancy Drew back in the early 80's and you are there, only British style.
